<title>Coming in to 7 Weeks...</title>
<description>

Coming into 7 Weeks now, and Aina is AINA :-D :-D :-D

She was fussing quite a bit, and seemed unsettled, so we bought Woodward's Grip Water for her. Now, feeding that to her is like a battle everyday, as she totally HATES it... first time she cried, second time she spat out a 'fountain' of gripe water all over herself, and third time she choked as she refused to swallow LOL LOL LOL

It was actually quite funny.........

She loves her babah to feed her because babah can carry her and stand up and dance around the room, while I just feed her while carrying her, seated on the bed LOL But in a way it's good because only her babah can make her finish her FULL feed, or else, it'll take her four hours to finish four ounces!!!! :-S :-S :-S

These are some of the dishes I prepared during the week. Forgot to take the rest of it, hehehehe....

When Aina drinks her formula, she likes to keep her hands busy like this :-D

This morning, we went to 1Utama and I managed to buy these for her.... among other things... will include the rest later....

This is actually Aina's second 'major' outing, the first being our monthly shopping trip to Tesco last weekend :-D It was a fairly short outing, since we only went to buy groceries then went home. We didn't even bring her stroller since Tesco has the trolleys that has the baby carrier attached. She only fussed once when she was hungry, then slept all the way home.

Today, we left the house at around 9.45am, and arrived at 1 Utama around 10.15am. First time Aina rode around in her stroller, and she was happily enjoying the lights and sounds. Finally, at 12.30pm she fussed, asking to be carried. I guess she was feeling kinda 'unloved' from lying in the stroller all the time LOL LOL LOL

Anyway, by the time we got home, Aina was flat tired! She looked so zonked out and exhausted, poor baby!

We got home at around 1.30, and she only cat-napped a few times before we finally had to go and fetch babah from the office, then I cooked a simple dinner for myself and hubby, and while we ate the maid bathed Aina (I make it a point that she bathes before 7pm) and prepped her for bedtime.

She slept for a while, then as we were going out, Aina woke up. We decided to bring her along so that she could maybe fall asleep in the car on the way home.

She did.

But she also pooped.

So once that was taken care of, she was wide awake again... Right now, her babah is feeding her and hoping she falls asleep soon,

Another LONG day for us tomorrow as I have my appointment with Prof, then there's a BBQ family-thingy that we have to attend in the evening...

We'll see how THAT goes :-)

!!!UPDATE!!!
@ 10.15am, July 2

SOOOO excite that I received the stuff I ordered online...

For a start, I only ordered 3 pcs, to see whether Aina would be ok with the change, and if all works well, then I'll order more (fun!) pieces :-D :-D :-D

Also, I just HAD to put in this pic which I took this morning after I switched on the lights... Little Aina protesting maybe?? LOL LOL LOL

Oh yeah, I ordered the stuff from www.babypitstop.com

There's a column on cloth diapers, and they also have a few choices and options. Quite a good place to start, if you are interested :-)

<title>After 40 Days....</title>
<description>We've been a bit busy, doing what exactly I'm not too sure, but Aina is sleeping less during the day now, and likes to coo and gurgle and 'talk'. Her eyes are also more alert and follows movements, and the musical toy that her aunties of Candidsyndicate Photography bought for her is a favourite these days :-)

I took this pic a week or so ago, when Aina was sleeping contentedly in her bouncer...

The first place we went to was to visit Nenek...

Aina sleeps each time we're on the move, and the longer the trip, the longer she sleeps. She slept throughout her visit with Nenek, and only woke up at Aunty Nor's house where I had to wake her up for her bath!

Anyway, Aina is awake from her nap now so I may continue this later, or probably do another entry another day... :-)

Lyn ~ yes... she loves to fall asleep in her carrier-cum-car seat so the longer the journey, the better she sleeps :-D it can be a problem, especially if she sleeps too long during the day... abis malam berjaga... LOL LOL LOL

MaDiHa ~ ha'ah kak... lega sgt bila celik mata tgk dunia luar ni... dah nak naik biul jer nengok AFC, AXN, Hallmark... sampai dah hafal segala program timing :-S

<title>Birthdays....</title>
<description>June is a month of celebration, at least it used to be when I was still living at home, as three of our siblings were born in this month, and Father's Day too falls in the month of June.

Now that we're all adults and some don't live at home anymore, June is not that festive anymore, and we just text each other birthday wishes, and IF we are lucky that everyone is around, then maybe we go out to dinner.

Exactly a month now Aina has blessed us with her presence, and to say that things are easy would be an outright LIE!! Things are never easy I guess when a new person comes into your life, regardless if that one child is your firstborn or fifth. Every addition to a family will of course bring different changes.

I don't think I mentioned this before but it turned out that on the day I was admitted into hospital to deliver Aina, I found that I had actually put on over 20kg from my original pre-pregnancy weight!!! I almost fainted..... because it seemed like I was doing SO well in managing my weight up till the middle of my 3rd trimester. But my tummy wa HUGE, and everyone who saw me commented on that. I guess most of the weight was concentrated at my growing belly, not to mention baby!

Today, I am happy to note that I am a bit lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight (I'm not telling though! LOL), which to me is a miracle because I could not follow all the confinement routine that would guarantee one get back into shape. Because of my c-sect, I could not do much and until today, my wound is sore and a few days ago, I noticed that there are a couple of spots of blood on the wound where the staple/stitching stretched/pulled a bit. Yup, I have been too active.

Anyway, when I found out I had to have a c-sect, I was resigned to the fact that I may have to continue wearing my maternity blouses for a few more months!!! LOL LOL LOL

Yaaayyy to me!!! hahahahaha

Anyway, yesterday was my sister's birthday..... so
HAPPY BIRTHDAY , CICIK!!!!!!!

Also, to note the one-month mark of Aina, I dressed her up a bit and took some pics of her :P 8-) LOL

her many expressions when waking up from her nap

so peaceful!

her eyelashes... hehehe... oh yeah, see... she scratched her face!!

Well. Enough. Have to go peep on Aina as she is with the maid. She was crying like mad just now.... and I really need a break since she likes to be bounced.
(that's why I can pop my stitches!!!)

AM

Aliza's ShoutBox:

MaDiHa ~ ha'ah kak... masa dlm pantang ni makanan 'sedap' sgt, mmg la saiz kecik dr sebelum pregnant LOL LOL LOL nanti bila dah makan normal balik, sahih la kembang semula...tapi takpe la, sbb ari tu hubby saya komen, apsal nampak saya mcm 'kecut'... dia suruh saya tak payah pantang dah la.. saya kata takpe...sikit ari aje lagi. nanti dah masuk keje, makan mcm biasa balik, mcm dulu la balik LOL LOL LOL

Lee Lin ! sebenarnya dah potong dah kuku aina ni, tapi cepat sgt panjang balik... tak perasan pulak. dia pulak tak suka pakai mittens sgt, nanti dia goyang2 tangan dia sampai tercabut mittens tu :-P

Fliffy ~ tks auntie fliffy... :-)

MamaFaMi ~ hehehe... mmg takde keje lain, kalau tgk aina tido, dgn mama ni skali hanyut... babah dia telepon pun tak dgr dah.... LOL

zira ~ hehehe main pinjam2 ker? tu la... tau2 dah sebulan... tak lama lagi dah kena masuk keje... huhuhuuuhuuuuu Aina skrg dah pandai mcm2 dah -- sengih, tolak botol, ludah (bukan muntah) susu kalau dia tak nak minum, etc etc...

RinnChan ~ ha'ah kak rinn... 20th june = 40 days... actually, i ask that aina kena kojak, tapi babah dia tak agree. dia takut nanti rambut aina tumbuh tak rata... hehehe... i agree aje bcoz yg dituntut tu aqiqahnya kan... ;-) Terpaksa variety kan menu kak, sbb tak kuasa kalau balik2 benda sama LOL minum pun mcm2 jenis air, asalkan berunsur 'panas'. my problem is, my scar senang jadi keloid...so prof pesan letak scar treatment sbg preventive measure. but, since wound tu kejap ok kejap tak ok, tak dpt la nak letak treatment tu. skrg ni bila pegang pun dah terasa dah wound tu jadi keloid sikit. hubby kata takpe la, dia aje yg tgk pun $-) $-) $-)

Jeff ~ yes bro, u're rite... life itself is a celebration, jadi mesti kita create wonderful memories to carry with us when we're old and grey :-)

kuchai ~ ha'ah dear... baby aina ni suka gosok2 muka dia, especially time burping. dia benam aje muka dia dlm tangan dia, mcm shield dr lampu gitu... tapi skrg ni dah potong dah kuku dia...cepat sgt panjang! hehehe... me nasib baik dear... hubby lagi suka kalau kita ni tak kuruih, jadik tak payah risau pasal nak melantak byk2 nih LOL LOL LOL

<title>Aina - Four Weeks</title>
<description>Yupsss... She's four weeks today. Unbelievable!!

Another outing for us today, as I felt a sore throat coming on, and Aina being 4 weeks. Since she's already 4 weeks, we decided to take her to the clinic for her HepB shot as well. While we were waiting outside the doc's office, I whispered in her ear "doc's gonna give you a shot, and it may be painful... you'll cry, but don't cry too loud or too hard ok... just cry a little bit. you'll be fine..."

She did cry a bit when doc gave her the shot, but sh stopped almost as soon as she started, and we're so proud of her :-D :-D :-D

For me, doc gave some antibiotics to combat the sore throat before I can pass it on to Aina, and he also gave some lozenge for me to suck on to soothe my throat, as necessary.

Actually, I didn't know if Aina should get her shot today i.e. 4 weeks, or wait till 12 June i.e. one month but I figured since it's just a few more days away and 4 weeks is one month anyway, what the heck! Don't really feel like going back and forth to the clinic now, do we.....! 8-) ;-)

I am looking forward to June 20th as that date would mark my 40th day.... FREEDOM! Some insist on 44 days but oh God...! Definitely has not been easy.... Thank goodness for TV and internet, otherwise...... one could easily go a little bonkers LOL LOL LOL
(of course, my mom would NEVER let me watch this much TV if she was watching over me!!)

Speaking about confinement, in food preparation, I've used mostly logic. Stayed away from all the 'cooling' and 'windy' stuff, and food that was generally considered not too friendly for post-surgery patients like me. Apart from that, anything is fine.... I was craving for something other than rice the other day, so in the end, I got hubby to get me some garlic bread from Pizza Hut :-P LOL LOL

Oh yeah... another recipe to share...

Herbal Chicken Soup

you need:
chicken bones
kei chee (also known as wolfberries)
red dates
black beans
tong sum (also known as angelica)
shredded ginger slices
chicken stock cube

how to:
wash all herbs (equal amounts) and combine with chicken bones and ginger with water in a large pot. bring to boil, then add stock cubes and cook on gentle simmer about an hour and a half. season to taste (if necessary), and serve with hot rice.

NOTE: of course chicken feet aren't the best of parts to use during confinement but since I figured I was just drinking the soup, I didn't really care or mind so much.

<title>Happy Time :-)</title>
<description>First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my brother.....

This entry is about our happy time as parents :-D :-D :-D
Well.... so much of ME has been in here, this is more about Aina and her Babah

Aina enjoys her bath time, Thank God!!

.....and this is her contented expression after a bath

She will usually remain quite calm and relaxed after her bath, cooing and basically just lying down happily until she feels the need to be cuddled :-)

Today, we received a visitor, a colleague from my office. Aina received a gift, THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE......

When we opened the gift, hubby and I were quite shocked as the 'thing' was rather huge and will probably last many, many years.... Hubby joked that we might find the maid sitting in it instead of Aina LOL LOL LOL
(will post a pic of it later......)

>>THIS IS THE BOUNCER

BUT, it is a practical thing, and hubby and I were just considering buying one....only if we bought one, it may not be so big :P :P :P

Hubby called yesterday from work, telling me that Mak was admitted into hospital again, and I was quite shocked since we'd only just been to see Mak a few days back.

Oh yeah.... when I was in hospital, Mak was also admitted due to some complications with her digestive system. Mak was vomitting and suffered from acute diarrhea, and was having trouble keeping her food down. Docs detected some sort of parasite/infection thingy and it was treated accordingly. However, I guess the problem came back. Hubby was supposed to go see her today but he got caught up with some other stuff so I guess he'll go tomorrow.

Anyway... Aina is asleep now, and I think I will take a rest as well.....

AM

Aliza's ShoutBox:

khairyn's momy (lyn) ~ hi lin... salaams to you too. we're all fine, only a bit of chaos as we adapt to each other (even hubby and me!). i LOVE working with candidsyndicate, and strongly recommend them :-D they're up for ANYthing, so any ideas that you have, they'll happily go along....

Miscretivecake ~ salam... terima kasih... :-)

Melina ~ yes it is huge... but I guess it's safer so that there's less chance of baby toppling over the side, IF she figures out a way to escape!! :-D :-D :-D

Syerah Mummy Lana ~ ha'ah... beza sikiitt jer :-D masa dah dekat2 tu, selalu gak singgah kat FP syerah, nak tgk dah bersalin ke blom :-D alhamdulillah...semua dah selamat kan? bertuah lana, mummy nyer bole bagi susu badan... :-S akak ni ntah kenapa, susah sgt nak kuar susu... so, susu formula ajer la utk baby aina...

Lee Lin ~ isshhh... takde..takde.... mama dgn babah aina suker aktiviti dalam air, jadi aina pun kena suka jugak dgn air... tak kira! babah nyer dah ckp, nanti dah abis hari nak campak jer aina dlm pool kat umah kakak dia... LOL LOL LOL

MaDiHa ~ saya berdiri aje kak...membongkok la sikit... ntah la tak tau nak ckp... lasak sgt sampai mak mertua pun tegur jugak, tapi saya jenis yg selagi tak btol2 terasa sakit tu, anggap mcm tak sakit ajer... tu yg kekadang bole jadik teruk sket... ni pun kekadang luka masih rasa pedih/ngilu lagi...

Jeff ~ definitely bro! and i'm sure with each child it will be different, rite? ;-)

<title>O.M.G!!! What the Hell...?!?!?!!</title>
<description>...the recent 'crisis' that Malaysians are facing is of course not unique to us, but it is recognised as a global crisis. First, we have the global food crisis, resulting in sky-high prices for even staple food that is a necessity... then now the global crisis of fuel.

BUT, is it REALLY necessary for a hike of 80sen a litre? Granted, it may not be much compared to other countries but then, as many people have pointed out, we are a petroleum-producing nation, so even if there is a need for a price hike, it should not be such a burden on the people.

I work in the public sector, and to be honest everyone I know survives paycheck to paycheck, regardless whether they're single or married. In fact, friends with families have to tighten their belts more since they have their kids to think about.

To be perfectly honest, I am kind of tired of hearing the 'bigwigs' say "change your lifestyle" or "you have to make adjustments".

I ask, "WHAT ELSE DO I CHANGE??"

- are we to give up eating altogether?
- are we to give up driving, which saves time (around 40 mins) and take the train (if it's even on time, it takes about 2 hrs to get to work)?
- are we supposed to feed our babies diluted sweetened condensed milk since formulas cost a bomb, and we need to "change our lifestyle"?
- do we resort to frozen and processed foods which will probably end up being cheaper than buying fresh items which require frequent, and even urgent, transportation?

We barely go out for movies (our ONLY source of entertainment) anymore, and don't even buy (pirated, much less original) DVDs. We only ever go on short trips to our favourite island (which we've not been in AGES) which is really value-for-money.

You see, I used to tapau food to work to save on lunch since eating out costs so much these days. I drive a little car that can't get anymore economical, yet with the price hike, a full tank will now cost me close to RM80 :-O :-O :-O

You know, RM80 used to fill up a MERCEDES BENZ!!!!

Some people say there's no point in bi***ing about the issue since it is a global crisis, but I beg to differ and ask that people look at the big picture...

* In August, there is expected to be another 'review' of petrol prices, and most probably there will be another increase
* In June, the enforcement of the passenger seat belt will create another problem for the people. consider this:
- you only earn a certain amount each month, and hence you can only afford a certain type of car. you have a family of 6 i.e. you and your spouse plus 4 kids. passenger seat belts only come in (maximum) 3, and even then you need to buy a HUGE car which costs a LOT MORE than what you are currently driving. will this new 'enforcement' not create bigger problems for people who cannot afford a vehicle upgrade? I don't know if this has been considered carefully.... if you are like me, and drive a tiny car that doesn't even have the passenger seat belts, buying another car is not an option since I still have a good number of years on the loan of the current car, and I only recently had a baby and have other things in my priority list. good thing they've not made baby car seats compulsory as well!!!
(yes, it is safer, and yes we have one.... but there are NO SEAT BELTS IN THE BACK!)
* with the price hike of fuel, definitely EVERYthing else under the sun will go up as well, and with our income staying exactly the same, there is no way we can survive on the same paycheck anymore.... and they are wondering why the credit card companies are having trouble getting their money LOL LOL LOL
(in this sense i am lucky because credit cards are my last resort, and only in life and death situations! :-D :-D )
* very soon, the toll rates will probably go up too. Hello! on the NKVE, there's been a tiny increase since January but no one made a squeak anywhere so they got away with it.

Anyway, these are just some issues that have come to mind over the last few days, and I am sure there are other issues as well.

What is the solution..............? $-) :-S :-S :-( :-S $-)
Any bright ideas???

<title>Baby's Day Out</title>
<description>Hubby had to take the maid for her medical today, and he decided to bring all of us!

We left the house a little after 10am and headed for the clinic, which was located in Bandar Bukit Mahkota, and got lost.... and finally arrived at 11am.

The clinic is actually owned by our nephew and his wife, so while waiting for the maid to go through her check up, Aina also got checked out.

Aina now weighs 4.45kg, not much of an increase, but at least she's not LOST much weight. We also checked to make sure her lungs were ok, because she sometimes makes weird noises when she sleeps!! Don't know if she's just snoring or if she has nasal congestion, or some breathing problems. Turns out that her lungs are clear so we will probably have to check out her sinuses later.

After we finished at the clinic, hubby decided to take us to see Mak who was at Kak Zu's house.

The most amazing thing was that Aina slept from the time we left until we got home at about 3.30pm!!!!
(yeah... and thinking about how she will probably NOT sleep tonight already tired me out!)

Through out my confinement, I've been having simple dishes like the ones above. For some who would like to try or keep the recipe, feel free..........

Ginger Beef

you need:
beef slices
(a lot) shredded ginger
(generous amount) of garlic, minced
(generous amount) ground black pepper
a bit of soy sauce
sesame oil

how to:
heat sesame oil and fry the ginger, garlic and black pepper until fragrant. add in beef slices and fry lightly until beef turns colour. add in soy sauce, and salt and sugar if preferred. add a bit of water for a bit of gravy if you like. serve hot, with rice.

Rice with Shredded Ginger

you need:
hot steamed rice
shredded young ginger
a pinch of salt

how to:
combine all ingredients and mix well. season to taste.

Apart from drinking lots of water (although some people say it's not very good), I also add the following to my daily 'regiment' of liquids...

Red Date Tea

you need:
10 red dates
10 black dates
2 Tbs dried longan
1 small pkt tong sum
3 - 4 slices ginger

how to:
combine all ingredients in a large pot and add 1.5 litres of water. bring to a boil, then simmer for about 2 hrs. ready to drink.

Lemongrass and Ginger Tea

you need:
lemongrass, bruised and coarsely chopped
a knob of ginger, bruised
small piece of cinnamon
a few cracked black peppercorns

how to:
combine all ingredients with water, then bring to boil. simmer for about an hour or so, and ready to drink.

NOTE: both the above drinks can be sweetened with rock sugar or honey, if preferred.

If I can, I will add m ore recipes later in future updates.

Oh yes.. this was what hubby had a few days ago. He prepared it all by himself :-D

AM

Aliza's ShoutBox:

kuchai ~ isshhh idak ler kuchai... kalau dia makan dgn sambal tumis petai, mau la kiter ni pengsan dulu LOL LOL LOL oleh sebab wife ni pencen sementara dr dapur, dia beli jer canned pasta sauce tu, pastu dia tumis la garlic sket, and add prawns dgn kadar teramat byk sbb bebaru ni dia pi pancing udang, dpt la dlm 46 ekor... berlonggok lagi tu dok dlm freezer... :-D agaknyer kiter dah abis pantang pun udang tu ada lagi nanti... LOL

<title>Aina - Three Weeks</title>
<description>I can't believe it's only been three weeks...

Sometimes, it feels like she's been around forever, as I cannot imagine life before her and yet there are times when it feels like she arrived only yesterday, bringing a huge change in our lives....

We've come to recognise her cries and fussiness, so I (at least) have fewer frustrations. However, yesterday she was REALLY fussy, and I had no idea why or what could be done until finally, out of frustration, I sent a text to hubby and asked if he thought Aina was too young to be spanked LOL LOL LOL
(it was just a silly question to entertain myself as Aina fussed..and fussed..and fussed)

She wakes up less at night now, provided she is given her full feed before she falls asleep. She's also supposed to recognise voices by now but since I am at home with her alone (the maid barely talks, and her voice is so soft) I have no way of knowing if that's true :-D :-D :-D

I removed her hand, but she promptly put her finger back to her nose...no idea why!!!

She's also developed a habit of pulling her own hair, and subsequently screaming her head off in pain... I guess she'll eventually learn not to inflict pain on herself!!!

Off now as she's awake :-)

!!UPDATE!!

To Pacify Or Not To Pacify
This is probably a desperate attempt for some feedback on the matter since I am at wits end these days... :-S :-S :-S

We had decided looooonnngg ago that our child will NOT have a pacifier because of the long-time attachment, and dependency most kids develop for it.

However, since I've been so free lately with nothing to do, I've read quite a few articles on line that may shed a different light on this issue. It is said that some babies need the pacifier to help them calm down, especially during sleep time.

I have began to notice that Aina gets startled easily when she's asleep, and each time that happens, she will open her eyes slightly, and eventually she'll wake up and fuss. If it's feeding time then we have no problems as she will immediately go back to sleep once she gets the bottle, and of course we have to coax her to drink up. If her tummy's full, then we have a problem. She sometimes refuses EVERYthing -- milk, glucose water, cuddling, patting, etc -- and just fuss and fuss and fuss.

She wants something in her mouth, as she makes the suckling motions and opens her mouth when we place our finger near her lips, but when she tastes milk or glucose water, she just spits!

I observe her when she's asleep and frequently, she will be suckling in her sleep! Wonder what she's dreaming of LOL LOL LOL

Anyway, I've read that to reduce unnecessary attachment to the pacifier, and lessen the dependency on it, one can train the child that the pacifier is only available during sleep time, and even then the child must be fed, burped and ready for bed before introducing the pacifier, and to be sure to only use it during sleep time.

Hubby and I cannot agree on this -- I believe we can teach Aina the above, but hubby insists she'll like it so much that she'll not even want her formula anymore -- so I have not started using it yet.

Is there ANYONE out there who can shed some light on this, and maybe give some opinion based on experience? $-) $-)

<title>Faces - Aina Nadira</title>
<description>I am feeling a little better this week, with less bouts of tears :-D

I have resigned to my fate of not being able to breastfeed Aina, and at the rare times that I actually start 'leaking' I just grab the pump and squeeze what little amount I can get and quickly feed Aina. I figure that's the best I can do for her now. A bit of it is still better than nothing, right?

Like all other new parents, we have been obsessed with taking pictures of Aina.....

She likes to bully her Babah by staying awake half the night, and Babah lets me sleep since I take care of Aina all day (yaaayyy for me!!) LOL LOL LOL

She's staying awake more during the day now, and only falls asleep after mid-day... She hates being swaddled, if you notice, as ALL her pics show her in total freedom :-D Her feet and hands get cold at night, and she only allows mittens and booties, and a light blanket. Then shen she's really cold, Babah will have to hold and cuddle her to sleep. Now, we have a thicker blanket on standby as the night gets cooler....

Aina is awake now .. time for her feed.
